Alloy 316 is a general-purpose austenitic stainless steel with a face-centered cubic structure. It is essentially non-magnetic in the annealed condition and can only be hardened by cold working.

Austenitic stainless steel 1.4404 (316L) exhibits excellent acid resistance, making it suitable for applications in the chemical industry, apparatus engineering, sewage plants, and the paper industry.

Austenitic stainless steel 1.4435 is primarily used in the pulp and textile industries, demonstrating exceptional corrosion resistance in demanding environments.
