Stainless Steel 347 offers excellent mechanical properties for high-temperature service. It provides superior resistance to intergranular corrosion when exposed to 800-1500°F (427-815°C), preventing chromium carbide precipitation and subsequent corrosion.
SS 347 is similar to SS 321, with columbium (niobium) as a stabilizing element, enhancing its resistance to intergranular corrosion. It cannot be hardened by heat treatment, but cold working can improve its mechanical properties.
SS 347H is a high-carbon modification of SS 347, designed for improved high-temperature strength.
